Senior Thesis: Separation of Families

For our senior year thesis, we are tasked with picking a social issue and developing the concept by research and presentation. The goal was also to choose one word that reflected the overarching theme and create a functioning clock that reflects the issue at hand. The social issue I explored was the separation of families throughout American history due to politics.

CLOCK DESIGN

The functioning clock is made out of concrete, with a styrene base to house the clock mechanism. The use of concrete and outer rings symbolize the idea of "Trump's Wall". Engraved in on the walls are historical events in U.S. History in which families have been separated.

Research

The research began with analyzing the Trump Administration and they way they have been have been handling immigration issues in 2018. By the end, I broadened my topic to discuss issues of separation of families though major U.S. Historical Events and how these issues have been apparent thought American History.
